BWii: Battalion Wars 2:

Review by:-Skyler Ashley:

I entered BWii only with the knowledge that it was a strategy game, and that it had the cartoony graphics that I began to know and love in Advanced Wars. After a few levels I realized that this game was a new breed of RTS, this is my review.

Story

Bwii's story is not Oscar winning material, hell you could even call it cookie cutter. An evil country known as the Iron Legion set out for world domination, but was miraculously stopped by a final attack by the Solar Empire. Years later the Solar Empire, Tundra Territories, Anglo Isles and the Western Frontier are in a global fued only to realize in the end that the Iron Legion is the true enemy. So they all join forces to put an end to the Iron Legion's attempt at global domination. It's ok, and I'd like to stress that.

Gameplay

This is where Bwii is at its finest hour, it's a pseudo RTS! What I mean by this is that it is like the developers took RTS and Third Person Shooter and threw them both in a blender. You take control of one soldier, plane, naval vehicle, or tank(you can switch at any time) and then you lead the rest of your battalion to carry out various objectives as commanded by your general. These objectives can range from destroying or capturing enemy bases to freeing POWs. There is a lot strategy input here, if you fail to incorporate it in your attacks, you shall fail miserably. I find this to be very fun and addicting, there is also and online mode that is also very fun to play.

Graphics

Imagine a console version of Advanced Wars, that is what you get with BWii. I find this graphics to be awesome, I love the cartoony soldiers. Although, I bet these could be done a Gamecube, nevertheless I like 'em.

Sound

The music in BWii, is rather fitting with triumphant tunes to battle too. The voice acting can get a little annoying at times, as it is very stereotypical but others may find it charming (even I do at some moments). Not much else I can say really, I like it!

Complaints

The camera can get pretty bad at some certain spots, the voice acting is a little cheesy and the game only lasts around 10 hours. Those are basically all the complaints I have.

All in all I find BWii to be a great experience for fans of Advanced Wars and strategy games although it has a few flaws. I'm confused at why it receives low ratings. I guess I'm not harsh enough >.>

B+, recommended!
